Monster Series – “Fringe”
Fringe had always been so sure of himself, so confident in his abilities. He had always known where he belonged, never questioning whether or not he was a monster. But then he met the Resistance and saw their conviction. It stirred up a feeling within him that he had never felt before. Suddenly, his understanding of what it meant to be a monster grew and changed into something broader and more inclusive. He never realized how much he had allowed himself to be blindsided by what was right in front of him until that moment when his world flipped upside down.
Fringe is just one of the many members of the monster series, hand carved by Jason Ray. This carving is a freestyle carving made from cedar – indeed one of a kind and unique. You’ll be amazed at the intricate details carved into this beautiful piece–you might even see your own shadow in the carving. Not the usual monsters you’d see in the monster series. This horror is just as nifty, but at a different level.

“Fringe” is a one-of-a-kind work of art, carved and shaped using an assortment of tools including a variety of saws, grinders, chisels, files, and sanding abrasives.
Besides sawdust, it’s my goal to create interesting conversation pieces that will make you smile. Just like people… no two of my creations are exactly the same, nor is each piece perfect.
Most critics do not consider my work as fine art. Some folks feel I could have done a better job sanding, or more time should be put into the finishing… To me, it just adds that special “handmade touch”.
